Six local residents are arrested in what sheriff's deputies call a crackdown on rural crimes.

The five adults and one juvenile were arrested last week in connection with a string of burglaries and vandalisms at ranches and farms in the Santa Maria Valley. The six suspects are accused of stealing more than $105,000 worth of farm equipment from three ranches, over the past two-and-a-half months.

Cody Tucker, Steven Smith, Breanne Allegretto and David Southern were all booked on several felony charges. David Friesen was also booked for possessing stolen property in relation to the case. The 17-year-old male was booked into juvenile hall. All of the suspects are either from the Santa Maria Valley or Orcutt.

Sheriff's deputies say they've already recovered more than $103,000 worth of the stolen property.
