CHP officers say slick roads are likely to blame for an accident that sent a car off the highway and into a tree near Santa Margarita.

The accident happened just after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday on Highway 101, just north of Highway 58.

Officers say the 21-year-old driver was trapped in the car and emergency crews had to help get her out.

She was taken to the hospital with major injuries. No other vehicles were involved in that crash.
