The top three teams in the Pac 7 League girls soccer standings pulled out tough matches on Wednesday nights.
First place San Luis Obispo improved to 5-0 in league with a 2-1 win over St. Joseph. Brady Candaele scored both goals for the Tigers to give her 12 on the season. Junior goalie Lily McCann made 4 saves. San Luis Obispo is now 12-6-1 on the season as the Tigers play for the first league title since 2006.
Defending champion Righetti survived a thriller in Atascadero 4-3. The Warriors improved to 4-1 in league and 7-4 overall. Michaela Olney, Bailey Wineman, Ivy Diego and Itzy Pinon each scored for the Warriors. For Olney, a sophomore, it was her team-high 11th goal of the year. The Greyhounds fell to 0-5 in league despite goals from Candace Johnston, Maia Mumford and Brynne Guzman.
Arizona State-bound Nadine Reed netted the only goal of the match in the second half as the Arroyo Grande Eagles kept pace with the Tigers and Warriors with 1-0 win over Paso Robles. Brianna Welch assisted on Reed's 15th goal of the season. Goalie Sarah Doughty recorded her third shutout of the season and made two saves in goal.
