The San Luis Obispo baseball team scored once with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to tie their game against Paso Robles and then scored a game winner in the ninth to win. The 4-3 extra inning victory moves the Tigers three games ahead of the Bearcats in the Pac-7. First place San Luis Obispo is now 11-1 in league and 14-3 overall. Second place Paso Robles drops to 8-4 in the Pac-7 and 12-8 overall.
San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles split the first two games of the series with both teams winning at home. Game three was played at Sinsheimer Stadium in San Luis Obispo. The Tigers scored twice in the bottom of the first to go ahead 2-0. The Bearcats scored an un-earned run in the fourth and then two more un-earned runs in the fifth to take a 3-2 lead.
It stayed that way until the bottom of the seventh when with two outs, Paso Robles pitcher Mac Stuart walked Domenic Fountain with the bases loaded. The count was full before Fountain walked. The game went into extra innings and wasn't decided until the ninth. The Tigers had a runner on second with one out when the Bearcats second baseman made a throwing error to first allowing RJ Hassey to score the winning run from second.
Tigers starter Marco Murrillo earned the win and is now 4-0, Murrillo pitched all 9-innings. Stuart pitched from start to finish for the Bearcats as well. Both teams made four errors behind the pitchers.
San Luis Obispo has seven games remaining, starting with a non-league game on Saturday at Amador Valley (6-8) in Pleasanton. Paso Robles has six games remaining, starting Tuesday at Pioneer Valley (6-15.)
