SLO Blues win season opener 16-1

The San Luis Obispo Blues opened the 2013 season with a 16-1 rout of the Cal Poly Club Team on Friday night at Sinsheimer Stadium. Blues designated hitter Taylor Anderson went 4 for 5 with a stolen base in an explosive second inning in which the Blues scored six runs. Anderson batted in three runs for the Blues. Blues third baseman Josh Ramirez hit 3 for 3 with two singles, a double and one stolen base, while scoring three runs. Grant Zawadsky hit a triple and had four RBI and teammate Daniel Garner was 3 for 5 with three RBI for the Blues. Former Cuesta star Andrew Nelson pitched 6 1/3 innings for the Blues, giving up only three hits and one run while striking out 11 in the win. The Blues host the San Francisco Seals on Saturday at 6pm, Sunday at 4pm and Monday at 1pm.
