The San Luis Obispo City Council agreed Tuesday evening on a three-step process to control traffic near the Laguna Village Shopping Center. However, it was not a unanimous vote.

Two council members, including Mayor Dave Romero, felt it would be safer to immediately install a traffic signal at the shopping center entrance. That was the first plan that shopping center representatives had presented to the council last year.

Tuesday's revised plan includes adding a left hand turn lane and putting in a traffic signal after one year, if the first step does not relieve traffic congestion.
