The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office Coroner has released the name of the pilot killed in a plane crash on Monday.
Officials say Scott Metzger, 44, of San Luis Obispo, was the man flying the Cessna that crashed in San Luis Obispo.
Because of the extent of the injuries, officials thought they would have to use DNA analysis to make a positive identification.
An autopsy was performed Thursday, and a tattoo was discovered and confirmed by the family.
Based on information gathered during the course of the investigation along with identifying information found during the autopsy, coroner's investigators were able to identify Metzger.
The cause of the plane crash is still being investigated by FAA and NTSB officials. The investigation could take months to complete.
