San Luis Obispo County officially has the highest gas price in the state, as the average price of a gallon of unleaded gas in the U.S. jumped nearly 20 cents in the last three weeks.

The Lundberg Survey of Fuel Prices puts the national average at $3.76. That is almost a dollar higher than the price at this time last year.

AAA reports that the average gallon in San Luis Obispo County is $4.21 for regular unleaded.

In Santa Barbara County the average is $4.19.
