This week is National Crime Victims' Rights Week and people gathered at the Embassy Suites in San Luis Obispo to mark the occasion.

This year's theme promotes fairness, dignity and respect for crime victims.

Thursday's luncheon honored some of the county's service providers, criminal justice and business professionals for their commitment to victims' rights.

"We all work hard, it's not just me," said Sonja O'Donahue who received an award for her work as a sheriff's detective. "It's everybody that has this assignment works very hard, but I was very flattered and very humbled by this."

Thursday's event also honored crime victims and survivors.
