The San Luis Obispo County Jail is providing a new service for inmates and their families. An online ordering service is now available for inmate's families to purchase things such as snack food, personal hygiene items, stationary, and other assorted products for jailed inmates. Previously, money for these types of items had to be brought directly to the jail where it was placed in an account for those in custody. The online ordering service provides for better all-around efficiency. Lt. Kelly Kenitz, a correctional officer for the jail says, "that also frees up the correctional technician from having to process that money and we're hoping that we'll be able to cut down on errors."
The online items are typically available to the inmates within a few days after the order is placed.
