A San Luis Obispo police officer has pleaded guilty to federal charges of extortion.
Corey Pierce was arrested in February, accused of taking cash and drugs from two people, then selling fake drugs to dealers.
In federal court on Monday, Pierce pleaded guilty to extortion. He is scheduled to be sentenced in December.
Pierce has been on administrative leave with the San Luis Obispo Police Department pending the outcome of the FBI investigation. He has served the last six years with the department.
Most recently he was assigned to the County Sheriff's Narcotics Unit.
