A local group is taking their act on the road and it's filling the air with music for hundreds of students.
The SLO Symphony Music Van is traveling to 40 Central Coast schools over the next two months. It's been a tradition for almost 20 years.
The symphony travels to local schools to help fill a void left by cuts to music programs and classes.
"Exposing a young child to music may not only encourage them to learn an instrument themselves, but an appreciation of music enriches our lives as children and adults," Executive Director Jim Black said.
Students will get a short music lesson in the physics of sound, then an introduction to the instruments used in the orchestra. After the lesson, students get free reign with a variety of instruments, including trombones, violins, clarinets and cymbals. The symphony says it's a noisy visit, but it's fun for all.
If you'd like to reserve a stop for one of the remaining dates, call SLO Symphony at (805)543-3533 or click here.
