Vintners in San Luis Obispo County are getting ready to rock this weekend. It's their big Harvest Celebration and they call it Rockin' Harvest Weekend. The big event is the Grand Tasting and Wine Auction at Avila Beach Resort on Saturday, November 2nd, but there are winemaker dinners Friday night and most wineries have open houses and special events happening at their locations on Sunday...some all weekend.
The Grand Tasting features food and wine tasting, live music from local indie-pop favorite, Fialta, and ocean views. The auction features a broad selection of rare wines, culinary treats and SLO Wine Country destination experiences. The money raised will go toward the Assistance League of SLO County and S.A.V.E. (Sexual Assault Victim Education). (To check out the auction lots, click here.)
Auction goods including everything from a cycling tour of the Edna Valley with a winemaker to a 50-bottle wine cache to a day out with five "young gun" winemakers. "The winemakers and grape growers go all out with their auction lots and themes," said Heather Muran, executive director of SLO Wine Country. "This portion of the day is truly entertaining, and you never know what will happen or who will take the stage."
The festivities unfold throughout the weekend with winemaker dinners on Friday evening and winery open houses on Sunday.
