Small fire causes evacuations at Pismo Beach hotel overnight

Some tourists in Pismo Beach were woken up overnight when a small fire broke out at Edgewater Inn and Suites.
Cal Fire says it happened around 1:30 a.m. The hotel is located at 280 Wadsworth Avenue.
According the Cal Fire, sprinklers managed to keep the fire to the carport area until fire crews arrived on scene. They say it started from heavy smoke in an air conditioning unit.
Guests were evacuated for a short time, but they were able to head back to bed around 2:00 a.m.
Cal Fire estimates the damage around $10,000.
