San Luis Obispo Fire Department and Cal Fire was called out to a structure fire around 8:20 Thursday night.
The fire started in a four unit residential building in the 12000 block of Los Osos Valley Road. The building had been tented and undergoing termite fumigation at the time of the fire. An automatic flood light had turned on underneath the tent, which was the source of a small fire. Residents around the fire tried to battle the fire with using garden hoses.
Firefighters quickly controlled the fire but due to potential release of dangerous inhalation gases. Representatives from the fumigation company arrived and adviced that the gas had been dissipated for several hours prior to the fire, which greatly reduced the inhalation danger.
There were no reports of injuries. The fire was confined to a 4X4 foot section. Firefighters are estimating the cost of the damages at approximaetly $10,000.
