Smoking may raise the risk of a nasty hangover after heavy drinking.

A new study found college students were more likely to report hangover symptoms if they smoked a lot of cigarettes on the day they drank.

Their hangovers were also more intense.

It isn't clear as to why smoking boosts hangover symptoms, but researchers say smokers may want to cut down on days they indulge in heavy alcohol use.
