A smoking ban at Santa Barbara County parks, beaches, and trail heads will be the hot topic at a public hearing Tuesday morning.
County health officials say the ban would reduce exposure to deadly secondhand smoke, help remove litter from cigarette butts, and reduce the risk of fires. Right now, Carpinteria is the only city in the county with tobacco-free parks and beaches. The meeting is being held in Santa Barbara at the county administration building.
The San Luis Obispo City Council will meet Tuesday afternoon to discuss comprehensive no-smoking regulations in the city.
