World Cup fever again gripped the Central Coast on Tuesday afternoon.
The United States took on Belgium, and soccer fans took to local bars. It was a packed house at the Santa Maria Brewing Company's Nipomo Taproom.
"This is the best World Cup I've seen," said Francisco Meza, Santa Maria resident. "All the teams are almost equal. There's not a team that's dominant, so everybody's equal here."
In Tuesday's game, Belgium clearly dominated the U.S., but that didn't stop local fans from cheering on their team.
"It was good though," said Blayne Contreras, who watched the game at San Luis Obispo's Laguna Grill, which was standing room-only. "We came out hard and we came out strong and I'm proud. I'm really proud of what we did and I'll wait another four years and hopefully we'll make it then."
The United States was eliminated by Belgium 2-1 in overtime.
