Central Coast Olympian Todd Rogers and his partner Phil Dalhausser return to the sand in London on Tuesday.
The reigning Beijing Olympic Gold Medalists won their opener against a team from Japan on Sunday 21-15 and 21-16. It marked a big change from 2008 when they lost their opening match to a Latvian team.
Rogers, a Solvang resident, who grew up in Santa Barbara, recorded 11 kills and 11 digs in the win. Dalhausser, a 6-9 monster at the net, tallied 11 kills and 9 blocks.
The Americans are seeded second overall in London and face Adrian Gavira and Pablo Herrera of Spain on Tuesday. The Spaniards beat a Czech team 25-23 and 21-16 in their opening match.
The pool play match can be seen on KSBY from 3-4pm on Tuesday.
