Sources tell KSBY a former San Luis Obispo Fire Captain was injured Saturday in Shell Beach.
It happened at a popular surf spot just below Spyglass Park around 12:30 p.m.
CAL FIRE and Pismo Police responded. They believe he was surfing when he hurt himself.
Because of the terrain in the area, rescue swimmers used a surfboard and paddled him out to a Port San Luis Harbor boat. The boat took him to Port San Luis where an ambulance was waiting to take him to a local hospital for treatment.
Our sources say he injured his leg. No updates yet on how he's doing.
