The number of children admitted to the hospital for gun-related injuries increased by 45% between 1997 and 2009.
A new study tracked gunshot violence trends.
Researchers say the death rate for kids who were injured by guns also increased by 37%.
Gun-related injuries and deaths increased the most in states that have a high percentage of household firearms.
Handguns were involved in the majority of the accidents.
