A new study reveals the number of total knee replacement surgeries more than tripled over the past 20 years.
Data shows knee replacements have far outpaced the growth in hip replacements, especially among patients under 65.
Researchers say increasing obesity rates are responsible for 95 percent of the recent demand and speculate the demand will continue to rise.
