Tatiana Dunlap and Kaitlyn Flowers led the St. Joseph girls basketball team to a thrilling 58-52 win over defending Pac 7 League champion Arroyo Grande on Wednesday night in both teams' league openers.
The Knights evened their mark on the season to 7-7 and 1-0 in league, while the Eagles fell to 0-1 in league and 7-7 overall.
Dunlap scored 10 points in both halves to finish with a game-high 20 points. Flowers, who battled foul trouble in the first half, poured in 12 of her 15 points in the second half.
The Knights led 14-7 after the first quarter and took a two point advantage into halftime. AG took a brief lead in the third quarter, before the Knights pulled it out down the stretch.
Ashlyn Herlihy kept the Eagles in the game. The freshman scored 12 of her 18 points in the first half. She finished with a double-double by pulling down 10 rebounds in the game. Olivia Galindo finished with 8 points and 8 assists, while Jordan Robinson tallied 8 points and 6 rebounds.
It marks the first league loss for the Eagles since the 2010-11 season. AG went a perfect 12-0 in league last season.
