St. Joseph's Scotty Cusack named FNH Player of the Week

For delivering big plays when they mattered the most, St. Joseph High's Scotty Cusack is the Week 5 Friday Night Highlights Player of the Week.

The senior racked up 118 receiving yards and 41 rushing yards on 7 carries for a total of 159 yards in the Knights' win at across-the-street rival Righetti last Friday. Cusack scored two touchdowns in the Knights' 22-10 win to capture the coveted Shield from the Warriors. It was the Knights' first win over the Warriors in at least 23 years.

"We lost to them the past two years so we came out strong with what we wanted to do. What Gary {wilson, Righetti head coach} said, we wanted it more. We were excited to win," said Cusack. "Last year, I was out for almost the whole season with my season injury so it feels great to be back."

Cusack was also named Male Athlete of the Week by the Northern Santa Barbara County Athletic Roundtable on Monday.

This week's runners-up were Templeton quarterback Alex Elterman (282 passing yards, 4 TD), San Luis Obispo sophomore Nate Greenelsh (114 rushing yards, 2 TD) and Arroyo Grande quarterback Matt Willkomm (184 passing yards, TD throw, 75 rushing yards).
