'Start! Walking Day' is April 7

Marian Medical Center in Santa Maria and French Hospital Medical Center in San Luis Obispo are teaming up with the American Heart Association by planning separate events on National Start! Walking Day, which is Wednesday, April 7.
The event encourages employers to promote walking routes for employees to use during work breaks.
Marian Medical Center's National Start! Walking Day rally will begin at 10 a.m. with an awards presentation on the hospital's front lawn. At 10:15 a.m., hospital employees will take a walk using one of the facility's walking routes.
French Hospital's rally will begin at noon. It will include a speech by Mayor Dave Romero and a half-mile walk along the hospital's Start! Walking Trail. There will also be fitness demonstrations, free Subway sandwich giveaways to the first 50 walkers, music, and entertainment.
