SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - A California State Bar court is recommending that the district attorney of a Northern California county be disbarred after finding him culpable of three counts of misconduct.
The ruling against Del Norte County District Attorney Jon Alexander was filed on Thursday.
Alexander was accused, among other things, of making a $14,000 loan to a probation officer preparing probation reports for two of his clients when he was a public defender and receiving a $6,000 loan from a defense attorney then dismissing charges against the attorney's client. He was also accused of improperly discussing a case with a drug defendant without her lawyer present.
The court said Alexander had three prior disciplinary proceedings, and that played a role in its decision.
