The State Senate has confirmed Abel Maldonado as California's next Lt. Governor.
With a vote of 25-7, state senators have voted to make the Santa Maria native California's second in command. Last Thursday, the State Assembly voted in favor of the confirmation. The Assembly vote was seen as his biggest challenge. It had rejected his nomination earlier this year, but the Governor then resubmitted Maldonado's name.
