Paula Lopez, 48, returned home Wednesday. She was considered missing for nearly 10 hours. Her family and her employer, KEYT, released a statement Thursday.
In the statement from the family they thank the community and all the well-wishers who shared their concerns for Paula. They continued to say: "As a family, we were very alarmed because Paula was experiencing a medical condition that caused her to be unable to communicate with us. She is now receiving appropriate medical care and we hope and expect that her treatment will enable her to recover quickly."
A statement released from KEYT said they were happy to learn Paula was safe. It continued: "We are looking forward to her quick recovery. At the request of the family, we will respect their wishes for privacy and refer all questions to local law enforcement who worked hard to find Paula safe and sound."
Paula Lopez is a veteran co-anchor who has been with channel 3's KEYT in Santa Barbara. She started as an intern there in the 1980's.
