Stephanie Brown Trafton won the women's discuss at the US Olympic trials on Sunday and will have a chance to defend her Beijing Olympic gold medal. The Arroyo Grande High School and Cal Poly graduate had her best throw on her sixth and final attempt. Brown Trafton cleared 213 feet, 10 inches. She was 9 feet, 8 inches better than second place. Brown Trafton's second best throw also would have been good enough for first place.

The 32 year old qualifies for her third Olympic games. Brown Trafton set the American record earlier this year of 222 feet, 3 inches.
