Multiple media reports say the Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns have completed a trade that will send 38 year old point guard Steve Nash to Los Angeles. The tradewill reportedly cost the Lakers two first round draft picks and two second round draft picks. The Lakers will be able to absorb Nash's contract with the trade exception they acquired when they traded Lamar Odom to Dallas in December.
With the Lakers over the salary cap they weren't able to sign Nash outright and needed it to be done with a sign and trade with the Suns. Nash will reportedly receive a three year $25 million contract.
The six-foot, three-inch Nash is a two time League Most Valuable Player but has never won a championship. He averaged 13-points and 11-assists per game last season while almost getting the Suns to the playoffs.
The deal means Ramon Sessions will likely not be back with the Lakers. Sessions opted out of the final year of his contract but had been talking with the team about resigning a long term deal.
