Santa Barbara County Public Works crews plan to begin damage repair work on a portion of San Marcos Rd. next week.
The roadwork begins March 8th, on San Marcos Rd. at mile marker 1.7, which is about 1.7 miles north of Cathedral Oaks Rd. The damages are from the winter storms that ripped through the Central Coast all season. This construction project aims to fix an embankment slope and build a new retaining wall.
Travelers headed through that area can expect up to 20 minute delays. Traffic controls will be in place on San Marcos Rd., as only one lane will be open at a time. Construction hours begin at 7:00a.m. and finish at 5:00p.m. Monday through Friday.
The more than $167,000 project is funded by the Federal Highway Administration Emergency Repair Program.
It's expected to be complete by the end of April.
