The Santa Barbara City Fire Department is conducting structure fire training starting Monday and wrapping up at the end of the week
A commercial building in the 1700 block of State Street, that was slated for demolition, is being used for fire training.
Firefighter are simulating an interior structure fire with a "victim" trapped inside. They are also freshening up on some skills like stretching hoselines, conducting search and rescue operations and rooftop ventilation exercises.
The training allows firefighters the opportunity to keep current with numerous skills and tactics by exposing them to a large commercial structure allowing firefighters to get involved with real life emergency situations.
