The body of a man in his mid-20's was found on a beach in Isla Vista on Friday morning. Santa Barbara County Sheriff Investigators are asking for the public's help in identifying the body.
Investigators said the Emergency Communications Center received an emergency call at 8:42am on Friday, after a beach walker spotted the body. The man was found on the beach below the 6500 block of Del Playa Road. He's being described as having short, shaggy, brown curly hair, clean shaven, brown eyes, about 5'10", 190-pounds, with no scars or tattoos. They said he was a student, but did not say specifically if he attended UC Santa Barbara.
Sheriff investigators said the male had sustained facial/head injuries that are consistent with a fall. They say there appears to be evidence that the victim had been drinking on Thursday night and wandered off a cliff. They said there were no reported witnesses, and aren't saying yet whether it was an accident or a homicide.
Investigators told KSBY news the victim's clothing had been removed because the body was in the water for somewhere between 6-12 hours.
"Unfortunately, this happens about twice a year in Isla Vista, that we have people go off the cliffs," said Lieutenant Butch Arnoldi.
Arnoldi suggests that people should watch out for their friends when going out, and not let friends wander off alone.
