Students bring a BB gun to Cuesta College

Three students brought a BB gun onto campus at Cuesta College on Thursday, which startled other students and faculty, according to the Cuesta Police Department.

The police said the students used the unloaded pistol to film a robbery scene for their class. They said the students were supposed to get permission from the police to bring the gun, but they didn't. However, police said since there was no intent to harm anyone, the students will not be charged or reprimanded.

"We're in this day and age where we're hypersensitive to any type of weapons, guns, knives, anything else that may be a possible threat to students and faculty and guests on campus," said Sgt. Ron Schram with the Cuesta Police Department.

Schram said two officers stayed with the students for the duration of the filming.
