March 14th (3-14) is known as Pi Day. It celebrates the mathematical constant that is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, and begins with the numbers 3.14159.
Pi has been calculated to more than one trillion digits beyond its decimal point.
Students at Arellanes Junior High School in Santa Maria celebrated the day by decorating the numbers that make up Pi, and wrapping the digits around the school cafeteria.
There was also a pie eating contest at lunchtime, and a Pi memorization contest.
Kids at Fesler Junior High held a similar celebration
