A group of four Cal Poly students studying Food and Nutrition donated a gingerbread castle to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo.
The students spent 22 hours baking, assembling, and decorating the castle, which consists of 35 pounds of gingerbread and 15 pounds of icing.
The project was donated to the hospital by Cal Poly and Project Hope and Fairness, a local non-profit dedicated to helping West African cocoa farmers and to teaching Americans about fair trade.
The castle will be on display at the hospital through the end of December.
