Students in need receive new computers

Eight local students got new computers thanks to the Santa Maria Valley Industry Education Council. On Wednesday, the city's Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Business Appreciation Luncheon at the Elk's Lodge. This year, the Orcutt Union, Santa Maria-Bonita, Santa Maria Joint Union, and Guadalupe Union School Districts each picked two students to get a computer. Funds came from the Wells Fargo Foundation and the Chamber of Commerce. In the past eleven years more than 190 students and their families have received new computers through the Computer Connections Program.
