Study about heart disease patients and anxiety

Anxiety can worsen a heart attack patient's chance at survival.
Researchers at Duke University Medical Center studied nearly 1,000 heart disease patients. They measured their anxiety and depression levels when they were undergoing surgery to open a blocked valve.
Researchers found those who suffered from anxiety had double the risk for death from any cause, compared to those without anxiety.
The study found that people with anxiety were more likely to have difficulty sleeping and developing high blood pressure, both factors that could increase their risk of death.
