New York City police are questioning a suspect in connection with the death of a subway rider who was pushed onto the tracks Monday.

Police took the man into custody Tuesday but have not yet charged him.

It is a horrifying death that has many subway riders in shock.

"The victim here was caught between the train and the station expired on the scene," explained NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly.

Police say 58-year-old Ki Suk Han was shoved into the path of an oncoming subway train in midtown Manhattan.

He was struck and killed before being able to climb to safety.

The driver of the train was so distraught he had to taken away in a wheelchair.

On Tuesday police apprehended a suspect for questioning.

They believe he's the man seen in a heated argument with the victim on the subway platform before the violent confrontation.

To identify the suspect detectives poured over security video from area stores and took him into custody near the scene of the crime.
