Surf still up and advisory extended

Building surf expected through Saturday morning

A high surf advisory remains in effect until 8 am Saturday for the Central Coast.

A moderate long period west swell will continue to move across the coastal waters through tonight. High surf and strong rip currents are expected at area beaches through Saturday morning.

Surf between 8 and 11 feet with maximum sets to 12 feet. The highest surf will occur on west and northwest-facing beaches.

High surf will create strong and dangerous rip currents in the surf zone as well as waves that can suddenly wash people off of beaches and rocks.
