Surveillance photo believed to show armed robber

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man who robbed a grocery store at gunpoint.

It happened just after 8:00 pm on Friday, March 22 at the Vons on South Turnpike Road in Goleta.

Investigators say the robber was captured on surveillance video as he entered the store a few minutes before going through a check-out line, pretending to buy merchandise. When the clerk handed the man his change, he showed her a handgun and demanded money from the cash register. The clerk gave him some money and he quickly left the store.

The robber is described as a Hispanic man in his late 20s, 6'2", and 250-275 pounds. He was wearing a dark cap with a white logo, a long-sleeved checkered shirt, dark pants, and white shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Office's anonymous tip line at (805) 681-4171.
