The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office has identified the suspect who was shot in an officer-involved shooting Sunday in Carpinteria as Jeremy Bordegaray, 29, of Cayucos.
Bordegaray was suspected of trespassing at a home on the 3200 block of Beach Club Road.
The Sheriff's Office says, while he was handcuffed in the back of a patrol car, Bordegaray broke out the Plexiglass barrier, climbed into the front seat, and tried to drive away. That's when a deputy fired several shots.
Bordegaray remains in critical condition.
