Syrian govt threatens to walk out of peace talks

GENEVA (AP) - Syria's representatives to the peace talks in Switzerland may be packing their bags. They say they'll leave unless "serious talks" begin by tomorrow.

The delegation chosen by President Bashar Assad met for less than 90 minutes today with a U.N. mediator, as part of a peace conference that also involves the Western-backed opposition.

Direct talks that were planned for today were scrapped. And Syria's government blames the rebels for the lack of direct negotiations.
