TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - A Tampa socialite is speaking out on the loss of privacy that she says made her a prisoner in her own home after she was linked to a scandal involving two top military generals.

In an op-ed piece published in The Washington Post today, Jill Kelley and her husband Scott Kelley recounted how their lives were upended on Nov. 9 after Gen. David Petraeus resigned as CIA director.

Jill Kelley became the focus of national media attention after it was revealed she received anonymous emails from Paula Broadwell, Petraeus' biographer and mistress. Broadwell allegedly told Kelley to stay away from the general.

The Kelleys say their story is a cautionary tale of what can happen when the "careless handling" of information can "endanger citizens' privacy."
