In a 7-0 vote late tonight, the San Luis Obispo Unified School Board decided to continue offering 4th through 6th graders in the district the opportunity to attend Teach Elementary School.
Board members were considering the closure of Teach Elementary School because of overcrowding.
At a crowded board meeting that lasted almost three hours, parents argued the value of the accelerated-learning program. Superintendent Eric Prater tells KSBY 4th and 5th graders currently enrolled will be advanced up a grade, and there will be a more restrictive admission process for new 4th graders that may include a lottery system.
