SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (AP) San Rafael police have arrested an 18-year-old unlicensed driver after he allegedly fled from officers who spotted him drinking beer and doing "doughnuts" or spinouts in his car.

Milton Gramajo of San Rafael was booked Tuesday night on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, driving without a valid license and recklessly evading police.

California Highway Patrol Sgt. Rose Japay says a deputy approached a driver doing spinouts in a parking lot at McInnis Park, but the driver took off, crashed into a barrier, blew a tire and headed south on U.S. 101.

The Marin Independent Journal reports the tire eventually disintegrated completely, forcing the driver to pull over.

Police arrested Gramajo and booked him into jail.

His bail was set at $35,000.
