Templeton baseball suffers first loss of season, Paso Robles blanks Grass Valley

The Templeton baseball team couldn't overcome an early 7-0 deficit and fell 12-4 to Ventura during day two of Atascadero High's Easter Tournament. The Eagles lost for the first time this season and dropped to 9-1.

They will play for third place at 11 am on Wednesday. Ventura won the pool and plays in the championship game against El Segundo at 2 pm. Both games will take place at Atascadero High.

Ventura scored 3 in the first and 4 more in the second inning. The Eagles got on the board in the fourth inning with a 2-run single from Tyrus Yamagata and a 2-run double from Andy Garretson to make it a 7-4 game. Ventura answered with 3 runs to regain control.

Paso Robles won the opener of the Righetti Classic. The Bearcats blanked Grass Valley 3-0 behind a 2-hit shutout from Paul Anderson. The junior struck out 3.

Paso Robles plays Alemany at 10am at Elk's Field in Santa Maria on Thursday. Host Righetti plays Crespi at 7 pm at Elk's Field.
