Templeton drops CIF playoff opener 8-3

The Templeton High baseball team saw its historic season come to a disappointing end with an 8-3 loss to Serrano in a Division 5 first round CIF playoff game on Friday.

The Eagles finished the season 18-5 after they captured a share of the program's first-ever Los Padres League title.

Tyler Kollman was tagged with the loss.

Serrano, a team from the Mojave Desert, scored one in the top of the first. Templeton answered with two runs in the bottom of the first. Kollman hit one into the right-centerfield gap for a triple that scored James Ralston.

The Diamondbacks erupted for five runs in the third inning to take the lead for good. They added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Jose Bueno led the visitor with 3 hits and 3 RBI on the day.

Andy Garretson added a triple for Templeton. The Eagles were outhit 10-6. Templeton committed 4 errors.
