The Templeton High girls volleyball team snapped a streak of one-and-dones. The Eagles beat visiting Arrowhead Christian Academy 25-12, 25-13 and 25-13 in a CIF Division 3A first round match.
The Eagles improved to 21-11 and advanced to the second round of the CIF after losing in the first round in 2009, 2010 and 2011. They won their first playoff game since 2005.
Templeton, which is coming off its first-ever Los Padres League title, plays the winner of the San Dimas/Ramona match on Thursday.
The Eagles were never challenged in their opening win. Heather Fields led Templeton with 11 kills, 4 aces and 10 digs. Carly Roth recorded 10 kills and 5 aces. Autumn Russell tallied 8 kills, 3 blocks and 2 aces, while Sydney Roth dished out 31 assists. Lindsey Wyatt led the Eagles with 13 digs and 15 service receptions.
Templeton plays San Dimas in the second round. A coin flip on Wednesday will determine the site of Thursday's match.
