The Templeton basketball teams led from start to finish as both the boys and girls squads beat Nipomo in Los Padres League games on Wednesday.
The Templeton girls won at Nipomo 55-43. Mari Stewart and Autumn Russell recorded double-doubles for Templeton. Stewart had 16 points and 20 rebounds, while Russell had 11 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Megan Hattar added 11 points. The Templeton girls improved to 4-1 in LPL action and remained one game behind undefeated Morro Bay. Nipomo dropped to 3-2 in league action.
The Eagle boys led 24-13 at halftime and never looked back in a 56-36 home win over the Titans. Templeton is now 2-3 in league and 8-9 overall, while Nipomo fell to 0-5 in league and 1-18 overall.
Kaileb Mendez led the Titans with 22 points and 5 steals.
Will Mehring led the Eagles with 15 points. Andy Garretson poured in 12 points, while Aiden Sarbeck just missed a double-double with 8 points and 12 rebounds.
Templeton plays Santa Ynez on Friday with the girls at home and the boys on the road. Nipomo plays Cabrillo with the girls on their home court and the boys hitting the road.
